I’d just add that authority in power exchange still only exists within agreement. Outside of that, it’s more about presence or credibility than actual authority over someone.
And control can be temporary or ongoing, depending on the dynamic. The key difference is whether it’s given and maintained through consent, or taken through pressure.
Authority is also a quality I can recognize and admire in people. For example: Ms Hyde is an authority in BDSM education.
Authority tends to stay with people whereas transfer of control is only temporary.
